desire

He had been training all summer for this, working and working and working, bleeding for his teammates whom he hoped were doing the same. Now when he needed his body most it was falling apart. First his shoulder, then his Achilles, though they were both minor and probably will just go away with some ice and stretching he began to doubt how much longer his body could continue to take this kind of a beating. “It’s a non contact sport.” He thought to himself. “why the hell can’t I stay healthy, this is my last chance to make an impact…. What am I going to do if I can’t work out the way I need to, the way I want to?

Exit 69/ College season preview

In 2 weeks Northern Lights will be attending our first tournament of the fall season, I am hoping that it will be an easy transition for the young guys into our system. That they are able to pick up on our lingo, but most importantly that they have fun with it and get a lof of PT. For some guys this will be the first time they have ever played competitive ultimate and so I am extremley excited to see what these guys will learn in their first tournament.

NL's are not looking so much for results as this tournament as we are trying to make it an opportunity for everyone to learn and get used to one and other. this will be extremely benificial to me as I have had virtually no time what so ever to develop chemistry and timing with the new guys, as well as just to hang out with some of them and get to know them better even if they are from EP...

I am also looking forward to getting an early look at some of the competition not only from our region but from our section as well, It looks as if MN is going to be an extremly difficult team to beat especially with the edition of Tim Pearce to their roster, there was a reason why he was on the hodags and I am sure Grey Duck will see the benifit of his presence immeadiatly. CUT obiviously looks tough after only graduating 2 players, and I know this is getting redundant in my blog but despite not having seen them they are my favorite to win nationals this year, and I am not the first on my team to share that thought. St. Olaf will always cause problems for several teams in the section however, I can not see them making a lot of noise in the region, and yes their absence from sections last year was a fluke. Do not expect for this team to shit the bed on sunday again even if they don't win their pool. Winona having graduated a lot of key players could be one of the sleeper teams in the section. They are always one of the more atheltic teams and they have huge alumni support due in large part to how long they have been around.

Other teams in the Central region that I think are poised to have big seasons are obviously the Hodags, despite graduating a ton of studs this team will be in better shape then all of the other teams in the nation, they have a desire to outwork every single team, and use that as their biggest weapon, this is no secret by any means. Iowa, should be a team for peopel to watch out for with a strong showing at regions last year don't be surprised if they are battling for that spot in the game to go. and lastly but surely not least Luther, they always seem to be in the thick of things and due to my limited knowledge of their team that is about as much as I can comment on their team. peace out

Club Sections

Club sections has come and gone, and on a whole it played out pretty much as expected with the exception of XMN taking the 4 spot to qualify for regions. This was due in part to the fact that General Strike decided they did not want to continue to play after beating Dingwop, and opted to give us their spot. Dingwop went on to play Surly and called out Dingwop and the switch was discovered, so we ended up not playing out our game against Surly. Surly went on to play XMN and loose in the game to go which did not matter as Surly was not going to go Open Regions anyway. on a whole it ended up being a good weekend the weather held up well and the surly was flowing.

On a personal note due to an ankle injury I was unable to play it has been a frustraiting club season as I was only healthy for 1 tournament. I am really hoping this does not transfer over into the college season, as I really want to be healthy and in the best shape I can possibly be. this is becoming increasingly more difficult as I continue to try to rehab my shoulder and now my ankle. hopefully this 2 week break before exit 69 will give me enough time to get healthy otherwise I will be on the sidelines trying to coach up the young guys.

100%

100% just a percentage...as I think about 9/11 today I reflected on just what it means to give 100%, 7 years ago today many people gave 100% of themselves to save others that they didn't know, that they had no relation to what so ever.... just pause for a second and try to remember those today

I try everyday to think about and give 100% to whatever it is that I am committed to, some days I fall short, and need to work harder... I needed to work harder today

update

Sorry dear readers that this has taken so long, with the start of school, I have been far too busy to update you, Cooler came and went. It was a ridiculous time that I can not describe as my memory is quite hazy and the other events should probably not be spoken about right now. Northern Lights practice has not started and we are quite excited about what this season has to offer. We are especially excited about the tournament being hosted by Madison and Cultimate. We feel like this is a very good opportunity for us to show the Nation that we are a team that should be feared going into regions.

Classes have gotten off to the usual fast pace that they seem to, there never seems to be enough time to get everything done that needs to get done. the next tournament that I will hopefully be able to post on in a reasonable manner should be club sections, sept 20th in Maple Plain, if you are in the area feel free to come and check it out should be a pretty intense tournament as teams will be playing for their season while the college guys that are there will be looking to stay healthy and may hold some things back, I hope that is not the case but self preservation and team loyalty can sometimes get jumbled. the other interesting thing should be which dingwop team shows up to section's this past weekend they came in seeded 36th and finished tied for 23rd which is a huge jump. Hopefully the dingwop that showed up this past weekend will also show up at sections and exceed some expectations.
